Google Hosted-Storage Service

Keep an eye open for the Google’s foray into the on-line storage area.

They may call it “GDrive” or”CyberStorage” or maybe “G-File”. Unlike Google’s other storage applications(gMail, Picasa, Documents, etc.), the new hosted-storage service will be aimed at providing large amounts of space for things like over-the-wire-backups,archived video and pictures, music and of course, all kinds of documents.

The service will probably offer some amount of storage for free and charge asubscription-based fee when additional space is desired.

This will certainly be an attractive platform for mobile computing, allowing Internet wide access to all an individual’s files on the G-server.

Watch for Google’s hosted storage in the spring of 2008.
