How to Develop Personal Momentum

In the internet marketing arena, it seems like there has been a chasm between what experts and authors teach and what most of us need to make personal and financial progress toward building a business.  You’ve read the books, clipped the articles and attended the seminars.  You get all hyped up, and eagerly try the newest techniques and methods.  Somehow the latest “secret sauce” superduper program is going to turn your ship around.  Ten days later, you’re asking yourself what all the excitement was about.  And, you’ve found another “secret blueprint” that doesn’t seem to live up to its claims.  Your “ship” still isn’t moving very fast.

Michael Cheney, a veteran internet marketer, has produced a video series that helps bridge the gap between wanting and getting.  He clearly lays out what you need to do, how to think, what to eat and most importantly, how to “feel.”  I think this is the first time I’ve run across a well-known marketer who sticks his neck out and actually discusses the more esoteric aspects of becoming successful.

It’s clear Michael understands the inter-relationships of health, energy, attitude, knowledge, self-discipline and responsibility.  He’s managed to put these concepts in bite-sized pieces (under 5 minutes) that anyone can view, enjoy and understand.  He’s actually quite funny and his messages are on target.  You can view what he’s produced to date at getmomentumtv.com.

I’ve enjoyed and learned a lot from Michael Cheney. Each of the products I’ve tried has always been first-rate.

Now he’s started another video series titled “Confessions of a Marketer”. You can view episode 1 here.

Talk about big goals.  Here’s some internet marketing training you may want to consider.   It’s called Ken’s Project.  I know, it’s a catchy name.  But, it has some catchy goals.

Ken’s Project has three objectives:

1) Create one million new entrepreneurs

2) Help each entrepreneur build a million dollar business

3) Generate one million dollars a year for charitable causes

I’ve listened to Ken’s first lesson about becoming an online entrepreneur.  I think it’s something every new person to internet marketing should hear.

He provides some eye-opening exercises that will help you develop better focus and help shift your mind set so that you are more likely to focus on what’s important rather than what’s urgent.

Based on his description of the goals of the course, he’s trying to teach long-term business success by focusing on the characteristics and methods that need to be developed.  Strategies by themselves won’t build long-term success.  Just having a strong interest in an area or marketing niche won’t build success.  And most importantly, just having a passion about a topic or market won’t build success.  Every marketer’s advice is “begin with what you’re passionate about and what you’re interested in.”

There are thousands of starving internet marketers who are very passionate and very interested in the markets they serve.  It takes more than passion, more than interest and more than strategies to build a successful home-based business.

I don’t know if Ken has all the answers, but if his first lesson is an indication of what’s ahead, I told him to count me in.   That’s at least till I find out it’s a $10,000 seminar or has an $800/month membership fee.  Then I’ll have to re-think the whole proposition.
