Politics is not my favorite topic.
But, I’m not going to stand by and watch the Democrats get away with bold-faced lies.
They are lying about what’s been happening with the economy and who caused the problems and who didn’t catch the problems!
The backstory:
A few years ago I tried to get a home loan to purchase a house. At the time I didn’t have enough cash in the bank for the downpayment (20% down) and began looking for mortgage help. I was told by realtors, bankers and government agencies that I was NOT eligible for assistance from Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae because my income was too high. (They didn’t come right out and say it, but I was also the wrong color- a fact that surfaced much later in the loan-getting process.)
During this same period I was being hammered by the IRS to pay additional taxes on income I received for a side-line business. No matter how I explained it, or what forms I filled out, the IRS kept insisting I owed penalties, interest, late fees and additional taxes. Expenses didn’t seem to matter, nor did the fact that I had already paid in over $15k in feleral taxes through payroll deductions each year for the tax years in question. Thise situation has carried on for over 10 years, and continues to this day. Even for years that the IRS has closed and agreed to amounts already paid, I still get statements from them claiming I owe back taxes and additonal penalties.
So, on the one hand I can’t get financial help from the government via programs designed to help first-time home buyers. On the other hand I’m being penalized and threatened with IRS levies and wage garnishments for taxes that have already been paid, for which the IRS acknowledges receipt of the tax payments (that exactly match the W-2 and 1099 amounts from my employers.) On top of all that, the IRS imposed penalties and interest which were almost as much as the additional tax they wanted.
My point is that the frustration of these circumstances caused me to continually watch what was happening with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and the IRS.
Watch these videos. See in their own words what the Dems call “oversight”. Listen as Barney Franks totally ignores the warnings issued by the existing oversite agencies.
Here’s part of Fox Networks documentary on what’s happening with the mortgage meltdown.
Here’s more information on the connection between Fannie Mae, Barack Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus. This is one of the relationships that have helped Fannie Mae thwart the ability of either administration or Congress to regulate the agency.
